I'm getting the feeling that my students here might be especially good at drawing. When I look at their drawings, I see details and embellishments that I'm not sure I see in children's drawings back home (unless I just wasn't paying enough attention back home). It makes sense to me that this would be the case because their written language requires so much attention to details and is so much like drawing. So, I am continuously intrigued by this in my day to day, and I had a cute little moment with a student in one of my favorite classes where she showed me this:

Love it!!! I will I learned to write in Chinese. Makes you think about how it changes their consciousness... Do we think concrete bc our letters are concrete?? Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteI know. It's so cool. It makes me wonder if our language makes us more analytical? I'm not sure. There's a lot of memorization that has to happen in language here, so I do wonder what that does to consciousness. Yeah. Dude. It's fun stuff.
